The Draco plant, also known as the Dragon Tree (Dracaena draco), is a remarkable evergreen native to the Canary Islands, Madeira, Cape Verde, and parts of Morocco. It's instantly recognizable by its unique, architectural form: a thick, cylindrical trunk topped with a rosette of stiff, sword-shaped, blue-green leaves when young. As it matures, it branches out, forming a distinctive umbrella-like canopy. One of its most fascinating features is the reddish "dragon's blood" resin it produces when cut, historically used in medicine and dyes. Though incredibly slow-growing and long-lived, often for centuries, this hardy and drought-tolerant tree is unfortunately listed as Vulnerable in its wild habitat due to ongoing loss.
